One of the twin machiya, the Oku Tamaya-cho is cozy house at the end of a stone-paved alley

Oku Tamaya-cho is located at the end of stone-paved alley that people have been using since the beginning of Edo period. Living room with beautiful garden, great beams support ceiling, and artistic lights are all welcoming you.


There is a historic high open-beam ceiling in entrance area. You can have relaxed time with the Japanese cypress bath. You also will see the garden by the comfortable living room with sunlight.
The mushiko windows on the second floor illuminates Japanese room with comfortable atmosphere.

Neighborhood Information

Karasuma Gojo is a very convenient area for sightseeing, and it is 20 minutes from Kyoto station by walk. We hope you enjoy the house for your vacation, but even your short stay will be fruitful to get the sense of Kyoto life. This area is a temple town, and there are many machiya houses restored as shops and restaurants nearby.
